Robert & Ethel Kennedy

Robert F. Kennedy was one of the most important public voices of his generation in the defense of civil rights, racial justice, the fight against poverty, and democratic participation. As Attorney General of the United States and later as a senator for New York, he defended the right to vote, supported racial integration, listened to historically excluded communities, and promoted policies aimed at creating real opportunities for those who had been left on the margins of progress.

His commitment was not limited to the United States. In different parts of the world, RFK defended freedom of expression, political participation, and the right of every person to criticize those in power without fear of reprisal. He believed that the moral courage of those who stand up to injustice could transform entire societies, and that every individual had the capacity, and indeed the responsibility, to contribute to that change.
