The RFK Foundation welcomed a visit from its president, Kerry Kennedy, in Madrid these past days in November.
A series of events was held to present the Foundation's programs in Spain and, at the same time, to meet the students and teachers following the "Speak Truth to Power" human rights program in our country.
In the halls of the Ramiro de Maeztu School, accompanied by members of the Department of Education of the Community of Madrid, Ms. Rocío Albert López Ibor, Deputy Minister of Educational Policy, Ms. Mercedes Marín, Director of Innovation and Bilingualism, and Mr. David Cervera, Deputy Director General of Innovation and Training, a meeting was held with Kerry Kennedy and other members of the Robert F. Kennedy Foundation in Spain.
Teachers from the Community of Madrid interested in Human Rights Education were invited.
Through the programs offered by the Foundation, participants can access very comprehensive training, with the development of interactive digital tools, which can help students acquire basic knowledge of human rights through real-life case studies of activists from around the world.
The President of Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights, Kerry Kennedy, and the Foundation's director in Spain, Anthony Verrecchio, presented the digital format of the course and clarified all questions regarding how it is delivered.
With numerous examples of how, even from subjects such as mathematics, students at any educational stage can be made aware of violations of fundamental rights and the ways to confront them, the trainers from the capital's various schools had the opportunity to learn about the program in depth.
