"Speak Truth To Power" Human Rights Graduation at Colegios Brains

Colegio Brains is one of the first schools to implement our human rights education program (Speak Truth to Power) in Spain, and to this day more than 550 students have had the opportunity to learn through the program.

Each year we hold a graduation ceremony to recognize the effort and commitment of all the students, the teachers, and, of course, the school's administration. They are wonderful partners who have made this focus on human rights a part of the school's culture. We are very proud to work with them and deeply grateful.

On this occasion the graduation ceremony (June 18, 2020) was held online, and both our global president Kerry Kennedy — lawyer, writer, and human rights activist — and our RFK president here in Spain, María Díaz de la Cebosa, who is also president of the American university CIS University, took part by addressing a few words to the Colegio Brains community. In addition, María Hita, President of the CINNED Foundation, and Dr. Francisco Ubierna, Academic Director of Robert F. Kennedy Spain and Academic Dean of CIS University, spoke. More than 150 families attended the event.

The fight for human rights is highly relevant today. In this sense, Kerry Kennedy's remarks also served as testimony to the current commitment to the fundamental values of human rights on the part of various institutions and public figures.

The graduating students played a very important role in the ceremony. Claudia Ayuso, winner of the Best Speaker Award in the Pre-University Debate League, stood out as the event's host.

We are left with the words that our RFK Spain president María Díaz de la Cebosa addressed to the students of the program:

"Each of us, starting from ourselves and our surroundings, must build a cleaner and more dignified world to live in, and we must take a stand to make a difference… I know that each of you will make that difference, because you will be an ambassador for human rights and a defender of them."
