María Díaz de la Cebosa, President of RFK Human Rights Spain, opens the MUN Bilbao 2024 Conference.

This past Thursday, January 25, the MUN Conference, Model United Nations, Bilbao, opened in its 2024 edition.

The international event, organized by the Ayalde and Munabe schools of the COAS educational group and held at the University of Deusto, brought together 360 young people from eight different countries who took part in a United Nations simulation to address critical issues on the UN agenda.

The opening ceremony featured the notable participation of María Díaz de la Cebosa, President of the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Spain Foundation. In her opening speech, using the figure of Robert Kennedy as an example, she sought to inspire the young participants to become aware of the importance of human rights and to join the wave of change he promoted in order to achieve peace and social justice.

Also speaking at the event were Aitziber Irigoras, vice-rector of the University of Deusto; Iñigo Zubizarreta, councilor of the Bilbao City Council; Anthony Speca, director of Polar Aspect Norwich; Tania Santiago, pedagogical coordinator of COAS; and 6 MUN Bilbao ambassadors representing the countries in armed conflict.

A string quartet performed to recall the importance of peace in the world.
