Voces desde la oscuridad (Excerpt)

Even in the darkest times it is necessary to see and understand that there is light everywhere. Sometimes it is harder for us to find that light, and sometimes it seems that there are powerful groups and individuals who would prefer that we never see it; nevertheless, we can all be human rights defenders. We must all seek the light. We don't need to be Malala or Gandhi, but simply to contribute to the sum of the effort of an entire society. Together we all generate ripples of hope. Here you can watch an excerpt from our play: "Voces desde la oscuridad" (created by Ariel Dorfman), performed by students of CIS Madrid - The College For International Studies with the great director Pablo Rosal Abascal during the long initial lockdown. They sought light despite the dark times that surrounded us. And they found it. This performance was done live over Zoom to ensure that human rights were not left in the background because of the pandemic — precisely one of the moments when they matter most.
